New to Indoor Cycling? Read This Before Your First Class

Indoor cycling can look intense—fast legs, loud music, lots of numbers on the bike—but it’s one of the most beginner-friendly workouts you can do. You don’t need to keep up with anyone else! It’s you vs. you! All levels are welcome in my classes.

1. Bike setup

  • Seat height basics

    • Standing next to your bike, raise the leg closest to the bike to 90 degrees. That will give you your saddle height.

  • Handlebar height should be at least as high as your saddle. Comfort is important here.

2. Resistance before speed

  • Light spin = unstable

  • Resistance = control + safety

3. Breathing

  • If you can’t breathe, back off

  • Talk test > leaderboard

4. Consistency

  • One class won’t change your body

  • Two–three rides per week will

If you’re brand new, your only job is to show up. Consistency is key. I coach every class with beginners in mind—even when the room looks advanced.
